This weekend has been one of the best weekends I’ve had in such a long time. It has been filled with wonderful weather, spending time with great friends and lots and lots of pottery!
I was totally hooked watching the great pottery throw down and was so interested in pottery since! I love anything creative as you all know so this was something I couldn’t wait to do! A chance to be around other creative people really does give me a buzz! Makes me even more passionate about being creative!
The studio was in Hebden Bridge which was a perfect setting! Starting the weekend off learning tips and techniques, serveral dekos which really helped us all get started! It is a lot harder than I thought and makes me appreciate the simple things, like my favourite mug or bowl.
Plenty time to throw over the weekend allowed us to make six items which will be fired and ready for collection in a month. Potters seem to be really helpful, happy to give their tips and really want to help you improve. Our tutor was great, so good at explaining everything and I really didn’t think I would have made as much as I did, after plenty of mistakes and attempts to keep getting it right. I definitely don’t want to lose the skills I have learnt, this is definitely just the beginning for me!
A couple of my friends stayed at my house during the weekend as Hebden Bridge isn’t too far from my house. It was so nice to use my house a little more, with it just being myself it is nice to have people using it for a change. Not being the best cook they cooked for me which isn’t me being a good host now is it! But I like people to make themselves at home when they’re here. It made my weekend even more perfect!
Plenty wine, great company, a bunch of creative people and lots of pottery really made for a great weekend! This is just the start for pottery for me and I can’t wait until i’m on the wheel again!
Now to enjoy the rest of the bank holiday weekend before my best friends wedding next weekend!
