Garden Party Hen Do

May 28, 2018

Where do I start with this post! It must be at least a year of planning and organizing, but this weekend was my sisters hen do! I'd like to think I know her reasonably well with her being my twin sister, so I had a few ideas in mind of what to do for her. I knew she wouldn't want everyone to pay a fortune as we all know hen do's are an expensive event. The girls were travelling from all over so we were conscious of that so I thought a garden party would be a perfect idea and then a couple of activities we could all do.

Myself and my other sister Rach put our heads together and came up with a great weekend for Jess and her friends. We decided on an escape room for the first activity! It was a great activity to start on, where everyone can mix and get involved in the game. It was fab!

We then went to my sisters house where we were having the garden party. On Friday it didn't stop raining all day - there were a few challenges whilst setting up but it all came together.

I had a plan in mind last year of what I wanted to achieve for the weekend. I am very much interested in interiors but I love the styling so so much. I knew I wanted to style this garden party theme in a rustic / tea party way. As jess is getting married in Malta we thought we would bring a little bit of Malta back here in Lancashire.

I worked with pallets and added some legs to them to make a long, low table with plenty seating and cushions around. A long run of greenery down the centre makes any table look pretty and helps with the rustic vibe, especially with the pallets. I went to several charity shops where I picked up lots of tea cups, saucers and nice dishes to use. My friend makes naturally dyed tea towels - please check out her insta @naked_dye. She made these for me in a variety of colours and they set the places perfectly on the pallet table!

I made a welcome note for each place setting and added a strip of polaroid pics of jess just to tie the scheme together. I really like to add lots of little touches - even down to the flowery straws as I know they are the little things that Jess would like!

We had gin welcome drinks for all the girls when they arrived, an arrow sign showing where everything was in the garden and a welcome board. The amazing cake was from my sisters neighbour, please look at her insta @sophiescupcakesonline she did a fantastic job and it tastes yummy!! I had an Instagram board made and tied that to bamboo sticks in the garden. The hot tub was a great little feature! The hire company let us down very last minute on the Friday! So we had to go out and buy one in the end - we couldn't have a garden party without a hot tub now could we!

We made sure it was a relaxed afternoon and wanted everyone to feel comfortable!

My sister in law sorted so many games which were great! It made all the girls mix with each other and we had such a laugh!

As a little extra I booked for a cocktail making class to come to the house. This was so much fun! the bartender was brilliant and we all loved it! and now we can make three great cocktails! Yum!

We went out in the evening and all enjoyed a dance and plenty more cocktails! The following day was very relaxed and finished off with afternoon tea! and one more glass of prosecco!

Overall, one of the best weekends making memories and lots of laughs! We hope you had a fantastic time Jess! <3

I hope you have all had a great bank holiday weekend!
